08-28-2016//Working Fire//3838 Harrow Ct.//1325 Hours

The volunteers at Moyers Corners were alerted to a reported townhouse fire on Harrow Court in the Station 1 response area. Car 1 [Chief Crispin] arrived first with heavy smoke showing and struck the Signal 99 for a working fire. Car 2 [DC Zaferakis] and Battalion 1 [BC Zeppetello] arrived shortly after. Car 2 took the command, Car 1 was the safety officer, and Battalion 1 handled the interior sector. Engine 41 [Acting Lt. Balcer] was the first due engine company and brought in the closest hydrant, followed by Engine 11 [Lt. Klem], Engine 22 [FF/EMT Burkle], and Engine 31 [Lt. Viel]. Three hand lines were quickly put in service to cover the involved townhouse and adjoining townhouse. Two additional hydrants were also secured by the engine companies after 41's hydrant failed. Truck 2 [Capt. Normanly] went to the roof to ventilate while another crew performed search and rescue. Rescue 3 [Acting Captain Wilkinson] covered the RIT assignment until Baldwinsville Engine 4 [Capt. DiGregorio] arrived on the scene. Ladder 1 [FF White] and Rescue 4 [Lt. Hamby] also assisted on the scene. Onondaga County EM 302 [Evans] also assisted in the command post. The fire was extinguished within 25 minutes of dispatch. One injured MCFD firefighter was taken to St. Joseph's hospital via NOVA Ambulance for treatment. Two civilians on the scene were also treated by NOVA Ambulance for smoke inhalation and did not require further treatment. Fifty firefighters from the MCFD responded to Sunday afternoon's working fire along with eight from Baldwinsville. Great teamwork by all units operating on the scene kept this fast moving from spreading to the adjoining townhouse. The Onondaga County Fire Investigative Unit has indicated the fire was caused by unattended cooking in the kitchen. Thank you to all mutual aid departments that covered our station during this alarm.
