MCFD Station 2 Response Area
Town of Clay, NY --

At 2140 hours the volunteers of Moyers Corners were alerted to a large detached garage fire in the 7700 block of Morgan Road. Battalion 2 [Chief Hoosock], responding from Station 2 just down the road,  arrived and advised an approximately 40x60 two story barn had fire showing and declared a Signal-98. Car-3 [Chief Race] took operations and Car-2 [Chief Zaferakis] took safety. The Wednesday Station 2 duty crew was fully staffed at the time of the incident.

Engine-21 [Lt. Bissett] and Truck-2 [Sgt Orchard] were on scene within two minutes of dispatch. Both companies worked to gain entry to the structure, and subsequently mounted an aggressive interior attack. They were assisted by Engine-41 [FF Goodson], Engine 31 [FF Lyons], and Rescue 4 [Capt McGowan]. Though four handlines were quickly deployed,  the fire continued to spread. As fire conditions continued to deteriorate, the decision was made to go to outside operations.

Engine 11 [Lt Stachurski], Engine 22 [Lt Beverly], Ladder 1 [Capt Schweitzer], and Rescue 3 [FF Dawley] were also on scene. The fire was knocked down 40 minutes after dispatch, and the Onondaga County Fire Investigation Unit processed the scene. MCFD crews worked until about midnight to ensure no hot spots were left in the structure.

Thank you to our neighbors from Belgium, North Syracuse, Clay, and Liverpool FDs for standing by our stations while we were on this alarm, and NOVA for providing ems coverage. The scene was turned over to the Onondaga County sheriff's office, great work to all companies on scene.
