06-07-2017 // Fire on Foster Road // 1900 Hours
The volunteers of Moyers Corners were alerted to a fire in the vicinity of Wetzel Road and Foster Road in the Station 4 response area. Initial reports from neighbors indicated a "makeshift" camp was on fire along with a vehicle, tires and other debris. Multiple explosions were also reported. The Wednesday evening duty crew of Engine 22 [Lt. Bissett] was in service at Bayberry Plaza at the time of dispatch and arrived within minutes. Crews found a fully engulfed camper located approximately twenty feet from the Seneca River. Engine 41 [Sgt. Whitmore] assisted Engine 22 with fire suppression. Truck 2 [Lt. Beverly] and Rescue 4 [Capt. McGowan] assisted with overhaul. Ladder 1 [Capt. Schweitzer] covered the RIT assignment. The fire was extinguished within ten minutes. The following MCFD units also responded: Car 1, Car 2, Car 3, Battalion 1, Engine 31, Rescue 3, and the Fire Police unit. NOVA Ambulance, the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, and the Onondaga County Fire Investigative Unit also responded and assisted on the scene.
