New Explorer Training - August 3rd, 2017
Our explorers have been busy training during summer break. After completing SCBA training, the team has recently completed engine company training under the direction of Deputy Chief Zaferakis and the explorer post advisors. If you know anyone that is 14 years old and a graduate of 8th grade that is interested in the fire service, please let us know. The MCFD Explorer Post, founded in 1967, is the oldest in Onondaga County. Five out six of the MCFD chief officers were once explorers, as well as 50 of our current interior firefighters. Past MCFD explorers have also gone on to careers with Syracuse FD, FDNY, San Francisco FD, Montgomery County FR, and many more. Our explorer post can be the stepping stone you need on your path to becoming a volunteer or career firefighter.
