It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lieutenant Christopher Kazel, who passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 23, 2021. Lieutenant Kazel joined the department in 2014 and was elected to the position of Lieutenant at Station 3 in January of 2020..
During his time with the department, Lieutenant Kazel responded to numerous alarms, assisted with instructing drills, and obtained his EMT certification. Lieutenant Kazel was a dedicated officer as well as a skilled, thorough, and well rounded firefighter. He was awarded a Unit Citation Award in Junalong with Firefighter/EMT Kyle Kiehn for saving a life.
Calling hours will take place at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse, NY on Sunday, August 29th from 4-7pm. Burial will be at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY, August 30th at 10am.
